Organization Overview:
Beyond These Walls is a 501(c)3 organization that works to achieve justice and liberation for LGBTQIA2S+ people incarcerated in the Pacific Northwest and the world through advocacy, service, and organizing. Beyond These Walls is a small organization with five full-time staff.
Program Description:
The BTW House program, located near 60th and Lombard in NE Portland, provides a supportive living environment for LGBTQIA individuals transitioning from prison to society. Each resident arrives directly from prison and stays for 4-6 months. The Program Manager will oversee all operational aspects of the program. Our Deputy Director and Oregon Case Manager also work from the program regularly. We aim to build a community with strong connections and values, utilizing a harm reduction model in our approach. Case management for each resident is conducted by our case manager.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Program Manager to join our team. This full-time, salaried position plays a crucial role in managing BTW's transitional housing program. The Program Manager will ensure the operational efficiency of the program, including maintenance, cleanliness, resident management, and the care closet. This position requires occasional nights and weekends, with a flexible work schedule. The Program Manager is expected to work onsite for 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the transitional housing program, ensuring a safe, secure, and supportive environment for residents.
Screen potential residents and coordinate intakes and exits from the program.
Manage and enforce house rules, including chore completion and behavior monitoring, to maintain order and discipline within the transitional housing program.
Coordinate maintenance and cleaning activities to ensure the property is well-kept and conducive to the residents' well-being.
Oversee the care closet, managing donations and maintenance to ensure residents have access to necessary supplies.
Act as a liaison between residents, the community, and external agencies to facilitate access to additional support and resources.
Monitor the safety and security of the program, promptly addressing any issues or concerns that arise.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to the justice and liberation of LGBTQIA2S+ people, with a particular focus on those impacted by incarceration.
Experience in housing coordination, social work, or a related field, preferably within a non-profit or community service organization.
Strong organizational and management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a knack for building trust and rapport with a diverse range of individuals.
Strong ethical boundaries and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends, with a flexible schedule.
Must work from the program site for 40 hours per week.
Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is $58,000, plus benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Additionally, the position offers unlimited sick and vacation time. The person hired for this position wil essentially be able to decide their own work schedule providing hours are worked between 8 AM and 10 PM.
